Live Squash On Sky Sports 3 This Saturday & Sunday – ATCO World Series Finals
Do you remember watching live squash (for the first time) this time last year when Amr Shabana and Greg Gaultier had ‘that match’?
Can they can top that performance this year?? Well the programme starts at 6pm on Sky Sports 3 on Saturday for the semi-finals and 4pm on Sunday for the finals and I’ll be glued to it.
The World Series field is made up of the top eight performers of the 2012 men’s and women’s World Series events. The format is based on two pools of four players, who must play each other before progressing to Saturday’s semi-finals.
From the last four onwards the tournament moves into a knockout format, with the champions crowned on Sunday (click here if you’d like to see the details of the tournament)

2012 in review (self-indulgent web-site review!)
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 15,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 3 Film Festivals
DLWE v Newlands – Home (Match Report) 19th December 2012
As I arrived I saw Alan Susskind watching the match on court. It was Sean (Norris) playing David Fallis early on. I said:
“Hi Alan. It must be you and me at No.1 as you’ve been playing in the first division for the 2nd team at No.5 recently, haven’t you?”
“I have.” Replied Alan “but I’m playing No.4 in the 3rd team tonight”
“Of course you are! Who am I playing then?”
“Oh you’re playing a guy who’s not played for the teams this season.”
“Of course I am.”

South African Knights Match v West Select @ Newlands 8th January 2013
Come and Support our West Select Team v The South African Knights at Newlands in Glasgow on Tuesday 8th January 2013 (8pm).
The Knights are a 5 man team of under 25 Regional players that are already 11 matches into their 2012/13 tour, with wins against the likes of Roehampton, Wimbledon and Guernsey and losses against clubs like St Georges Hill, Coolhurst & the Jesters. Why not have a look at their results on their Facebook page by clicking here
The Knights are a famous touring team that come over ever other year to play throughout the UK and have been doing so for many years. The players in the team fund this fantastic trip themselves and normally win many more matches than they lose in their 35 date tour. Our “West Select” team this year will be Jamie Henderson (Western) – Mark Ford (Newlands) – Stuart George (Giffnock) – Owen Hadden (Giffnock) and Kenny Boyle (Hamilton) – so why not book this date off and come and support the West Team and have a good night out with some excellent squash on view!
DLWE v Craighellen – Away (Match Report) 12th December 2012
I haven’t been to Craighelen to play squash for about 20 years, so the team met at the club at 6.15pm (although Ben turned up 30mins late and Sean went to the wrong club!). Captain Cantlay made his way to Craighelen via Edinburgh – Orkney – Edinburgh – Glasgow and Hellensburgh and he still arrived first. And all on 12-12-12 (it’s the last time we’ll see that numeric novelty again!)
