John Dale Passes Away
I’ve just heard the very sad news that former PSA World No.#84 John Dale has passed away (he lost a long battle against cancer last Thursday at the very young age of 33).
John was from the North East of England and used to come up to play West of Scotland and National League in the 1990’s. He was a very nice guy and a great player and very well thought of by all who met him.

Edinburgh BSPA Tournament Results
Adrian Grant and Vanessa Atkinson win the 2010 Edinburgh BSPA Tournament.
In an upset to the seedings Adrian’s opponent in the final was Saurav Ghosal World No.#29 (as he beat Daryl Selby World No.#13) and the Indian No.#1 made Adrian work very hard for the 3-1 victory in the final, which took an hour and 10 minutes.
Vanessa managed to win her final with a 3-0 victory over Nicollett Fernandes in just half an hour; after returning last Thursday just-in-time from New York (where her boyfriend James Wilstrop won the ‘Tournament of Champions’ title).

Another Tough Draw for Alan Clyne
After qualifying for the £40K Motor City Open in Michigan, Alan managed to draw the top seed (and Tournament of Champions semi-finalist) Karim Darwish. And despite a good performance in the first game he lost in three games by 11-9 11-7 11-4. Details are all available here
New York Tournament of Champions
Well that was a bit of a turn up for the books!
James Willstrop is The New York Tournament of Champions Champion.
James beat the PSA World No.1 Ramy Ashor 3-1 (12-10 11-5 9-11 11-3) to secure his first ever New York win.

And that’s not the only World No.1 he had to beat. On his journey to the final he had to overcome Amr Shabana and Karim Dawwish, both of who have been at the top of the Sport last year and in Amr’s case for some considerable time before that. Which is why James ranks winning the 2010 Tournament of Champions as the best win of his career.
