Alan Clyne Out Against Greg Gaultier (PSA No.4) in 1st round of New York Tournament of Champions
Unfortunately Alan lost in the 1st round of the Tournament of Champions, but he put in an improved performance against Gregory Gaultier (who is 64 places above him in the PSA rankings) since their last encounter at the World Open.
In a 3-0 defeat the Harrow man lost to the former World No.1 by as score line of 11-6 11-4 11-5 in 33 minutes, but improved his points tally and the time on court against the Frenchman (all-be-it only just!) since their match in November last year in Kuwait at the 2009 World Open. Alan must be hoping for a kinder draw the next time he gets to the 1st round!

1st Qualifying Round – 20th January
Alan Clyne beat Tom Pashley 3-1 in the first qualifying round of the 2010 New York Tournament of Champions. The Harrow man played his first qualifying match at the Yale club and will go on to play Yassir Butt (PSA # No.55).
Hope Alan has more luck against Gregory Gaultier this time than in the world open! Me too George and he’s got 11-2 11-5 11-7 to beat (in 27 mins) http://www.squashinfo.com/events/3784-mens-world-open-2009. Cheers Jason
2nd Qualifying Round
An excellent victory for Alan Clyne as he beat Yassir Butt (11-9 11-8 11-7) to progress to the 1st round of The Tournament of Champions in New York last night. It took Alan 46 mins to beat the Pakistani who is 13 places above him in the PSA rankings.
And Alan’s prize is a match against World No.4 (and No.2) seed Gregory Gaultier on Saturday in the first round (many congratulations to Alan – more world ranking points are on the way!)
