Many thanks to Optical Express for sponsoring this first ever Masters tournament and providing the prizes. Also thanks t all the competitors, who came from as far a field as Kirkwall and Manchester!
We look forward to seeing you at the next tournament which is the Scottish Open in Dumfries on the 13 & 14 April.

DLWE v SSRC – Home (Match Report) 21st February 2013
SSRC last night and Sean wanted an early start. He obviously knew that asking for the week off for his anniversary was going to get him nowhere (!) so instead he arranged an early start, so he could get back for his date! (top commitment!)
When I arrived Sean was on against David Irvine at No.3 and was 2-0 up and 14-6 up in the 3rd. But I have to say from what I saw, David was right in it. He pulled the score back to 14-9 and all the rallies were tough. However Sean won 15-9 and so the first 3 points were on the board.

Cogratulations to Peter O’Hara – Over 40 National Champ!
Many Congratulations to Peter O’Hara on becoming Over 40s British National Champion for 2013.
He took the title 3-1 in just 29 minutes when he beat Jamie Goodrich (from Norfolk) in the final.
The Championships were held at Manchester’s Sportscity last week and Peter led the Scottish charge with what looks like a comfortable win (with all but one games not going over 29 minutes).
Great win for a legend of West Squash – well played again Peter (O’Harrow!)

Harrow Sponsored Katie Gregson-MacLeod – Scottish Under 13s Champ!
Harrow sponsored youngster Katie Gregson-MacLeod won a breakthrough Under-11/13 Scottish Junior Nationals in February 2011. This was a sign of very good things to come, as Aberdeen’s veteran Coach George Tierney recognised at the time.
Since then, coaching at Inverness Tennis & Squash Club from such masters as Garry McKay, Malcolm MacKay and Phil Williams has led to her game developing key strengths in touch and court-savviness. Now climbing the divisions in junior tournaments, Katie (at just 11 years old) has just won the Scottish Under-13 Title and she is now ranked No.1 Under 13 (& No.2 at Under 14!). She is very excited to be representing Scotland in the 5-Nations in Le Mans, France, in March.
Katie ranks her inspirations as World No.1 Nicol David and World No.2 Harrow’s Raneem El Weleily (not bad players to aspire to!)

DLWE v Townend – Away (Match Report) 13th February 2013
Sean and I arrived so early the club was still shut when we got there, so we nipped across the road to the Dreghorn Fish & Chicken Bar for some carb-loading! At 6.45pm we went back to the club and their No.2 & 5 had arrived and we had No.1 & 3! How does that always happen?
Soon after Sean (Norris) was on at No.3 v Phil McKie so I took to the roof for refereeing duties. It was immediately obvious that this was going to be a clash of styles with Phil playing the shots and Sean chasing them. Sean was his normal nippy self which caused Phil to question some of the pick-ups and he was becoming more and more convinced that the ball had bounced sometimes up to 4 or 5 times! But Sean always calls his 3 bounce pick-ups so I was happy that all was good!!! …………………………………

DLWE v Glasgow Uni – Home (Match Report) 6th February 2013
Well if you’d said that playing the top of the table side in Glasgow Uni, that it was going to be 2-2 with the last match going on I’d have said ‘I’ll take that’.
We had strengthened our side by dropping Sean (!) So at No.5 David (Ritchie) went on against Oli Blakemore. The first game was all Oli, but David played well to get into the match and not let Oli have it all his own way. The 2nd and 3rd was 11-15 each, but in truth Oli was just a bit too strong.
