Live Squash On Sky Sports 3 This Saturday & Sunday – ATCO World Series Finals
Do you remember watching live squash (for the first time) this time last year when Amr Shabana and Greg Gaultier had ‘that match’?
Can they can top that performance this year?? Well the programme starts at 6pm on Sky Sports 3 on Saturday for the semi-finals and 4pm on Sunday for the finals and I’ll be glued to it.
The World Series field is made up of the top eight performers of the 2012 men’s and women’s World Series events. The format is based on two pools of four players, who must play each other before progressing to Saturday’s semi-finals.
From the last four onwards the tournament moves into a knockout format, with the champions crowned on Sunday (click here if you’d like to see the details of the tournament)

PSA $70K San Francisco (Netsuite) Open 2012
Gregory Gaultier wins the PSA 2012 San Francisco Open
Greg Gaultier stormed home 3-0 last night in San Francisco to upset the rankings and take a stunning victory. All his opponent (Nick Matthew – PSA World No.2) could say was “That’s probably the best I’ve ever played when losing 3-0”.
It’s the first title since Greg became a father and he put’s his calmer attitude down to life with his new son, Nolan – “it’s changed my attitude. It makes me more calm on court.”
A fabulous win and if Greg is now going to be calmer on court then the rest of the squash world better watch out!

2012 US Open
The World No.1 & 2 crashed out in the semi-finals of the men’s US Open to leave the door open for either Ramy or Gregory G to take the 2012 title.
Ramy Ashour beat Nick Matthew 3-1 and Gregory Gaultier beat James Willstrop 3-0 in the semi-finals. And with tough match after tough match taking its toll on the top seeds, it showed that when you’re not 100% against this quality of opposition they can take full advantage with wonderful shot play.
The final itself was dominated by Ramy, winning his 1st US Open title in three straight games, as the Frenchman had no answer to his speed and control (11-4 11-9 11-9).
In the WISPA event Nicol David took the title from the young pretender Raneem El Weleily to win the her first US Open. In-so-doing she established a new record of titles by winning her 63rd final (beating Sarah Fitz Gerald’s previous record).
British Grand Prix Squash Final 2012 – James Wilstrop v Nick Matthew
The world ranked No.1 & No.2 met in the 2012 British Grand Prix Final.
In the top half of the draw James Wilstrop just edged Gregory Gaultier to take his final spot, after a really tough 118 minute semi-final in Manchester’s $70K Springfield Solutions Tournament.
In the other half of the draw Nick Matthew beat Peter Barker 3-0 in 48 minutes, so with the easier game Nick was favourite for the final (despite being the No.2 seed) and so it transpired as he won the title 3-1 (4-11 11-6 11-9 11-6)

Harrow’s new signing Adrian Grant (PSA World ranked No.15) lost in the quarter finals to No.4 seed and world No.7 Peter Baker (and Harrow’s other new signing Chris Simpson qualified for the 1st round before losing to Alister Walker in 57 mins).
