Scotland Win 3rd Place at the European Team Championships 2016
After 4 years of 4th position Scotland made it onto the podium by beating Germany in the European Team Championships in Warsaw. Greg Lobban secured the winning point (after being 7-2 down in the deciding game!) to take the bronze medal against the side ranked 1 place above them (winning on games count-back).
A brilliant result for the team of Alan Clyne, Greg Lobban, Dougie Kempsell, Kevin Moran, Rory Stewart & Chris Leiper.

Brilliant performance and very unlucky from Greg Lobban against the No.3 seed Daryl Selby in a massive 5 setter lasting 82 minutes!
Meanwhile Peter O’Hara cruises to the Semi-finals of the O40s draw

British Nationals 2016 – Manchester
The Main Draw of the 2016 Nationals kicks off tonight with the top two seeds Nick Matthew and James Willstrop, being ranked in the top 12 ranked players in the World.
The Scottish hope comes from No.6 seed Greg Lobban (PSA World No.37) and Joel Makin made it through the qualifiers to represent Wales
I think Chris Simpson may be the man to keep an eye on, but what do I know!
In the women’s draw the top two seeds Laura Massaro (PSA World No.1) and Alison Waters (PSA No.13) look nailed on to reach the final (and it’s a shame that Sarah Jane Perry (PSA No.12) didn’t get a chance to meet Alison in the semi-finals – but you’ve got to beat everyone if you want to win!)
And don’t forget the age groups with Peter O’Hara, Fiona McLean, Mark James, Pauline Douglas, John Rae, David McAleese, Jim Dougal, Tom Adams, Colin McMullen & Rodger Longman all representing Scotland. I hope you all play to your best.
Edinburgh Sports Club Open 2016 – B.S.P.A. Men’s Draw
Greg Lobban Runner Up at the $15K P.S.A. Victorian Open (Melbourne) 29th July-2nd Aug 2015
Greg Lobban was runner up to Ryan Cuskelly in the Victorian Open, PSA $15K title against in a dramatic final.
Ryan (No.1 seed and World Ranked No.35) swept past Mahesh Mangaonkar in the semi-final while Greg (No.4 seed and world Ranked 50) had a massive 5 game encounter to triumph against Steven Finitsis in his semi-final.
So in the final the first game was a tense affair with Cuskelly narrowly edging it on a tie-break. Game number two was even closer as both players traded a number of highly-charged blows with Cuskelly just edging it 13-11.
The third game again saw both players put each other through their paces, but Cuskelly eventually managed sneak home taking the match 11-9 and claiming his 13th PSA World Tour title in the process.
“It was a tough match,” said Cuskelly. “It was pretty physical and it was quite bouncy out there and, with the higher tin, difficult to really finish the ball. Greg was hitting the ball quite hard and trying to keep the ball really hot and I was trying to hit more winners so it was a real contrast of styles. I’ve just got a few minor things to change for next week and to step up for the $25k Australian Open.

DLWE v Newlands 1– Home (Match Report) 10th December 2014
Newlands 1 – and the hits just keep on coming. Oh well I’m sure they wouldn’t have their full team out against us! Wrong! Greg Lobban, the PSA World No.63 at No.1 – Peter O’Harrow (!) at No.2 (2013 Over 40s British Open Champ) – Matt Bedwell at 3 (U19 No.15 in England) – Angus Woodward at 4 (not lost this year!) and up from Carlisle Vicky Bell at No.5
So, a short night then!
At first, no one was very sure who was playing No.1 for Newlands and when Alan Pearson turned up (their Team manager – and Newlands guru!) he said ‘I thought your No.1 would have told you’. Interesting! It’s up to the opposition to tell us what the Newlands line up is! I’m sure that’s not how Chelsea do it!
Mind you it wasn’t all bad news, as the new team shirts arrived this week and thanks to Kelvin Financial Planning (our new Sponsor) we looked very professional in the new team strip (as did the 3rd & 4th team who were playing each other – pictured) 
Having said all that we secured the team point on the very first game of the night, as David Craig actually warmed up for once and stormed the 1st game 12-10! But maybe we should have quit while we were up!
Angus started hitting a great length and won 3-1. Great team point though (must have been the return of the team mascot!).

DLWE v Giffnock 1 – Away (Match Report) 26th November 2014
Well I was up at 5am and coaching at 6am on Wednesday morning so was well warmed up by 6.30pm as I arrived at Giffnock awaiting David Craig – and daughter Elvi the team mascot (and not a group of Elvis’s as the pronunciation suggests). 12 hours before i did predict that the score would be 1-18 so that was the benchmark to bear in mind if you’re thinking we did very badly as actually I was quite pleased (all things considered!)
Elvi’s mascot magic was working well tonight as David lined up against the much improved James Singh. I though Dave may be in for bit of a tonking, but not a bit of it and I think I can save a lot of time with the phrase that is quite traditional with reports on Davie C …. “and so to the 5th“
