Harrow’s Peter O’Hara Wins The 2009/10 West Closed
Peter O’Hara (Newlands) won The 2009/10 West Closed Title at SSRC this weekend by beating Owen Hadden (Giffnock) in the final on Sunday. The match was 3-0 to Peter and although he always seemed to be in charge of proceedings Owen did make life tough for him by getting a couple of good leads in the individual games, especially the 2nd.
However when he was under pressure Pistol Pete always seemed to find another nic, which left Owen wondering what he had to do to keep the pressure on. Another impressive West Closed win for Peter and his 11th Title. (pic left Peter O’Harrow!!) To see all results click here
In the ‘B’ event Norman Patterson (Wishaw) came back from 2-0 down to beat Ashley Stevenson (David Lloyd West End) in an epic 5 games (results here) and Kieran O’Neill (Whitecraigs Rugby) won the ‘C’ event final 3-1 (results here) against Maggy Dick (from SSRC).
Alan Clyne Wins PSA Super Satellite Tournament in Ireland

Alan who was seeded No.1 took the $8K PSA final 3-0 against Piedro Schweertman 11-4 11-8 11-5 and in-so-doing will have done his World Ranking absolutely no harm. to date. To see the full results please click here. Congratulations Alan and good luck in cracking the top 50.
Harrow’s Stuart Crawford was also in action in this event, but unfortunately lost to Spain’s Alejandro Garbi in a tough 1st round match.
Canary Wharf Squash Classic 2010
What a semi-final night at the PSA Canary Wharf Classic in London on Thursday night. The game of the tournament saw an epic 2 hour and 7 minute match between Nick Matthew and James Willstrop (which included a 20-18 win in the 3rd game to Wilstrop).
After the 7th minute of the third hour of this grueling match James had to retire in the 5th game at 8-10 (match ball) after cramping up whilst diving for a ball in the back of the court!
In the final Gregory Gaultier faced Nick Matthew and it was Nick who prevailed by winning his first Canary Wharf Title 3-1 (12-10 6-11 13-11 11-3). For more detail click here.
