Harrow’s Alan Clyne Reaches $50K Malaysian Semi-final

Alan Clyne – PSA World Ranked No.49

Alan Clyne has had an excellent run in this weeks $50 Malaysian Open when he beat World No.43 Karim Abdel Gawad and World No 13 Hisham Ashour on his way to playing the No.1 seed (and world No.6) Gregory Gaultier.

Alan (now ranked World No.49) had to qualify for the main draw, but after that he was flying! He had a monumental battle against (Ramy’s brother) Hisham Ashour and just piped the No 3 seed 15-13 in the 5th game after an hour and 4 minutes. This must be a career highlight for Alan and the highest ranked player he’s ever beaten on the PSA tour, so many congratulations.
After such a tight match he followed this up with a win over Karim Gawad in the quarter finals, but unfortunately wasn’t able to beat Gregory Gaultier in today’s semi-final (losing 3-0 to the top seed).
Never the less another excellent tournament for Alan and some invaluable World Ranking Points.
