Harrow’s Alan Clyne at British Nationals
Unfortunately Alan Clyne lost his game yesterday as went out to Tom Richards the No.6 seed in the British National Championships in Manchester.
Tom now goes onto play Nick Matthew in the Semi-final today and in the other half it looks like going with the seeding as James Wilstrop and Daryl Selby (the No.2 & 3 seeds) play their quarter finals tonight against Jonathan Kemp and Chris Ryder respectively, but you never know!

Wednesday 9th February
Alan Clyne is through to Round 2 of the 2011 British National Championships today, but he’ll have his work cut out if he is to progress against No.4 seed Adrian Grant at 3pm today (Wednesday 9th Feb). Alan is seeded No.10 for the tournament so hopefully he can put in a really good performance later today.
Scottish Internationalist Lisa Aitken also kicks off her main draw campaign today as she came through qualifying to show that she is a major force in Scottish and British squash. However she also has a tough draw against No.4 seed Sarah Kippax at 6pm tonight in Manchester’s National Squash Centre.
Wednesday 9th February
Fabulous win for Alan Clyne yesterday as he beat the No.4 seed Adrian Grant in the British National Championships yesterday in Manchester.
Alan describing his win said “rankings-wise this is the best win of my career” as he beat the PSA World No. 18 (and gold medal Commonwealth winner in Delhi last year).
Alan is the last Scot in both draws (as Lisa Aitken lost 3-0 to 4th seed Sarah Kippax yesterday) and he plays the No.6 seed Tom Richards from St Georges Hill in Surrey.
Go for it Alan!
