Luck of the calendar sees me travelling to Giffnock tomorrow so i’ll get to catch that meaty encounter!
I wonder who Jamie Macaulay and Chris Ferguson will be lining up against??
Graeme Marshall to win at 5 for Newlands!
Giffnock 11 – Newlands 12
Jamie Macaulay v Pedro O’Hara 1-3
Chris Ferguson v Malky Watt 3-0
Owen Hadden v Peter Malone 3-0
Niall Morris v Victoria Bell 2-3
Graham ‘the Mugger’ McAinsh v Graeme Marshall 2-3
Doc. recovered from a wee wobble to win 3-2, did well not to chuck it in the fifth after failing to capitalise on a match ball in the fourth.
Vicky saved two match balls in the 5th game to win 3-2 against an out of sorts Niall M, not sure if he was rusty or just playing with fear of being out hit by a young lady?!
And well, once again, if you look at the result Peter did the business as per normal to ensure that the hard work from Graeme and Victoria didn’t go to waste 3-1 to Peter.
Chris F dominated the first two games against Malky at No.2 and by the time Malky had got going in the 3rd game Chris was playing some fierce squash which Mr Watt did well to keep control of, but Chris won 3-0 (looking forward to seeing Pedro and Chris go toe to toe in the coming years!).
Owen H beat Peter 3-0. If Peter had taken the 2nd game it might have ended differently, as it was Peter struggled to find the width in the 3rd game and Owen was in cruise control in the end.
Full credit to Chris and Owen who dealt with their ties in a straight forward manner, no discredit to the running that Malky and Peter did though, just left facing better opposition.
2-3 win to the away side.
